This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts and principles of contemporary marketing. Upon completion, students will be able to understand (a) the essential role of marketing in business and (b) the process of developing a comprehensive marketing plan for a product or service by using the building blocks of marketing strategy (segmentation, target marketing, and positioning) and the elements of the marketing mix (product, price, promotion, and distribution) effectively. Students will learn to identify marketing problems, analyze the situation based on relevant information and sound marketing principles, recommend implementable solutions, and communicate these effectively and persuasively.
